Product data maintenance at i.safe MOBILE is carried out using the crossbase PIM system, which forms the basis for the structured transfer of information to the website. The detailed maintenance of device sets and automated data provision ensure efficient data management and up-to-date information for customers at all times.

Initial situation

i.safe MOBILE offers a broad portfolio of explosion-protected communication devices whose technical specifications, approvals and accessories need to be managed clearly and precisely. In addition, this data is exported to various systems such as ERP, CRM and the website in order to optimize internal processes and customer satisfaction.

Procedure

Product data is maintained centrally in the PIM system, in which all information is organized in the form of "device sets". These device sets include technical specifications of devices such as smartphones, cell phones and tablets as well as specific approval details, battery data and accessories that are included in the scope of delivery, such as charging cables, adapters and operating instructions. Individual items such as spare parts, accessories and neutral components, including headsets and screwdrivers, are also maintained in detail in the PIM system. In addition, image data and textual descriptions, such as product photos or packaging images, are managed for each device set. Documents such as operating instructions and data sheets are also linked centrally in the system so that they can be made available both in the product context and in the download area of the website.

The device sets are provided with the corresponding regional approvals, as i.safe products are designed for robust industrial use and must meet strict safety requirements. Approvals are maintained in a separate structure, which includes certificates such as conformity or type examination certificates as well as other relevant descriptions. The status of the approvals - for example "applied for", "approved" or "rejected" - is also managed in the PIM system. This status determines whether an appliance set is released for sale.

The API server is used to transfer product information to external systems such as ERP, CRM or the website. This is used to automatically export relevant information such as features, texts and media files. For the website, a delta export is even carried out twice a day to ensure that all information is always up to date. Customers can therefore access verified and up-to-date product data as well as documents such as operating instructions and certificates, which are available in the download area of the website, at any time.
